Russia-EU relations are of a technical rather than strategic character nowadays. A parallel functioning of the EU and the Eurasian Union would lead to more debate about strategic vision of Europe and the Eurasian continent.

In 2001, analysts at Goldman Sachs came up with the acronym BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) as a way to promote investment in emerging markets. But the acronym has taken on a new meaning since then, and the four countries have started using it to pursue their own political ambitions.

As the international system becomes increasingly multi-polar, Russia and the European Union must find ways to cooperate with one another and engage in dialogue on issues that create strain between them, such as missile deployment in Poland.
