Brexit and the Future of Europe

As the negotiations between Brussels and London enter into a final decisive phase, European Union chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier provided an update on the current state of play, the prospects for post-Brexit relations between the EU and the United Kingdom, and broader implications of Brexit on the EU’s role in the world.

Michel Barnier is the European Union’s chief negotiator in charge of the preparation and conduct of the negotiations with the United Kingdom.

Elizabeth Dibble

Elizabeth Dibble is the chief operating officer of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She previously served in the U.S. State Department, including as deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in London from 2013 to 2016, as deputy assistant secretary of state for Western Europe and the EU from 2010 to 2011, and as deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Rome from 2008 to 2010.
